who are we
Founded by Matt Noades in 2016, Noades Archictects brings 20 years experience of residential architecture to clients in Hertfordshire and the area. From a studio in Chorleywood near the Hertfordshire/Buckinghamshire border, a variety of new build and extension projects have been completed across both counties.
Passivehaus Certified
This sought-after standard relates to the design and construction of homes that are exceptionally energy-efficient. This results in a home that is both comfortable and requires minimal energy to run. Sometimes referred to as Passive House, the standards required are tightly controlled by the Passivhaus-Institut in Germany. Studies show that houses built to this standard require only a fraction of the energy to heat that typical houses in the UK require, and considerably less than a typical new-build house.

Understanding the peculiarities of the various planning departments within Hertfordshire County Council is one of Noades’ strengths. Sarratt greenbelt, for example, is a challenge for homeowners wanting to extend, but there are ways to maximise what is allowed – see our completed Sarratt greenbelt project. The Three Rivers greenbelt area is another one that Noades have experience with, and keeping in touch with the latest consultations proposed allows them to offer sound advice.
