project overview: refurbishment of a 1960's bungalow
Project Details
This total refurbishment of a 1960’s bungalow overlooking Chorleywood Common has now been completed.
Externally, the building is clad in a combination of Western Red Cedar and black timber rainscreen cladding. The roof is covered in black corrugated sheeting.
A new feature stair links the two floors and a master en-suite bedroom has been formed on the upper level giving views over the common through a glass to glass corner window.
In the large open plan kitchen/living area the ceiling has been raised to the underside of the roof to give a double height space with small mezzanine gallery overlooking.
Phase 2 work consists of a curved extension with a green roof that wraps around the side and back of the lower level of the house, minimising the impact from the street while gaining three new large rooms.
